Cake without Oven or Mixer

Cake without Oven or Mixer

When you live in a place where there is not guaranteed electricity or there is no oven. This is an easy and effective way to make baked goods. The cake will be baked on top of the stove instead of an oven. The recipe is simple, quick and easy.. You do not need any gadget to make this cake. The cake batter can be mixed by hand (whisk or spatula).  I will also demonstrate how the cake can be decorated so that you can end up with a beautiful end product that you would be proud of. I used a hand mixer to mix the buttercream frosting but this also could be done by hand.

Directions


  • Grease  and flour an 8 x 3 inch pan
  • Pour  1 cup of salt or sand into a pan and preheat it on the stove top on medium low heat.
  • Sift the flour, add baking powder, salt and whisk together 
  • Beat the butter for 1 minute with a whisk (or spatula),  add the sugar gradually. Beat until light and fluffy. 
  • Add the eggs in one at a time and beat Add the vanilla extract 
  • Add in the flour and milk gradually, alternating between the milk and flour. Start and end with the flour. Stir to combine after each addition. 
  • Pour batter into cake pan. Bake in the stove top pan  for 45 - 50  minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool 5 minutes in the pan then remove cake  to a wire rack to cool completely

Buttercream frosting  

  • Sift the powdered sugar 
  • In a bowl, whisk the butter until light and fluffy. Add the sugar to the butter gradually and whisk. add vanilla extract and milk and continue to whip for about 5 mins. The frosting should double in size and be light and fluffy. 
  • Split frosting into small portions, add a little color at a time and mix until you achieve a desired shade.  Use your favorite nozzle and a piping bag to decorate your cupcakes.


Ingredients 

1  1/2 cups flour 

1/2 cup butter at room temperature 

2/3 cup sugar

 3 eggs

 1/4 cup milk

 1 tsp vanilla 

1/4 tsp salt 

1  1/2 tsp baking powder
