How to make Tiko | Dried beef

How to dry Meat in an Oven | Homemade Tiko

Tiko is a popular type of treated meat (beef) in Nigerian. It is slowly dehydrated over charcoal heat over and smoked over a long period of time. Though Nigerians eat dried bush meat but tiko is a staple in among the Southern people of Nigeria especially Deltans. So if you love dried meat or grew up eating tiko and does not know how to make it, this video will teach you how to make it. 


Directions

  • Wash and part dry the meat.
  • Add salt, seasoning cube,Cameroon pepper and massage into the meat. Spread the meat and let it air dry. The salt would help extract more moisture from the meat and also treat the meat.
  • Spread meat on rack and dehydrate in the oven (155 degrees F/68 degrees C) for about 8 - 24 hours.
  • Store in a dry place.
