How to Peel and Boil Green Plantains

Green plantains can be challenging to peel or cook if you don't know how to do it. But in actuality it is very easy to peel and cook green plantains. As shown green or unripe plantain is delicious when eaten with some soup or sauce

Directions

  • Wash the green plantain to avoid transfer of dirt to the plantain 
  • Cut off both ends of the plantain. With a paring knife, cut a long straight line from the top to the bottom of the plantain. Use the tip of the knife to lift off the peel from the plantain. Following the natural line, pull the skin away from the fruit. 
  • Scrape off any part of the skin still stuck to the plantain. 
  • Wash the plantains and cut to your desired size. 
  • In a pan add water (enough to cover the plantains), add peeled plantains and salt to taste. Cover to cook for at least 30 minutes or till done.
