Pound Cake

Pound Cake

Easy homemade Pound Cake from scratch.  Pound cake is a dense, rich and sweet cake that anyone will love. This is an updated version of the original version.

Directions

.

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
  • Sift the flour, add baking powder, salt and mix to combine.
  • In another bowl, add milk, vanilla extract and rose water and whisk.
  •  Grease 9 x 5  inch pan with the butter wrapper.
  • In a bowl, beat the butter for 1 minute, add sugar gradually and beat with a mixer until light and fluffy.
  • Once fluffy, add the eggs one at a time and mix until well incorporated. Always scrap the side of the bowl to make sure everything is well mixed.
  • Reduce the speed of the mixer and add the wet and dry ingredients gradually to the mixture, alternating between the dry and wet ingredients. Start and end with the dry ingredients. You can also fold the flour in with a spatula. This reduces the chance of over working the batter.
  • Transfer the mixed batter to the greased pan and bake for 60 - 65 minutes or until done. Insert a toothpick or a skewer into the center of the cake, once it comes out clean, that means it is done. Cool down on a wire rack for a few minutes then remove from pan and let it cool completely.
  • It is better enjoyed a day later

Ingredients

2 cups All Purpose flour

1 cup [2 sticks] salted butter

 1 cup sugar

4 large eggs

 1/2 cup milk

1  1/2 teaspoons baking powder

 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon Rose water (optional)

 1/4 teaspoon salt
