Seafood Okra Soup

Seafood Okra Soup

 Okra is enjoyed by so many cultures around the world. It is also a staple in many African countries. There are different ways of preparing okra soup, depending on what type you want. Seafood okra soup is a type of okra soup that is mainly cooked with seafood. It is affordable and very delicious because you can use any seafood of your choice.   

Directions

  • Clean all seafood.
  • Wash and cut okra, onions and fresh pepper. Chop okra and onions together
  • In a pan, add water, palm oil, dried catfish, fresh pepper, fermented locust beans, ground crayfish and bring to a boil.
  • Add fresh mackerel fish, crabs, seasoning cube and salt Cook until fish is done.
  • Once fish is done, remove fish from soup. This will ensure that the fish don't fall apart or breakdown due to vigorous stirring.
  • Add clams, shrimps and periwinkle. These are added towards the end because they have a shorter cooking time.
  • After a few minutes, add the okra and onions and stir vigorously for a minute. Then add pumpkin leaves or any green leafy vegetable of your choice. Add the fish back to the soup and cook for about five minutes. Okra too has a shorter time. When you cook it too long, it looses its viscosity. Don't forget to taste for seasoning and adjust as needed.
  • Your soup is ready!!

Fresh Mackerel fish

  Clams

Periwinkle

 Crabs

 Pumpkin leaves (Any green leafy vegetable is fine)

  Palm Oil

  Fermented Locust Bean

 Seasoning Cubes

 Salt

 Fresh Peppers 

 Onion 

Ground Crayfish
