Sugar- Free Watermelon Lemonade

During the summer months, consuming watermelon is a good way stay hydrated. Taking it a step further is making a healthy and refreshing watermelon lemonade. This is a sugar free lemonade that will be sweetened with dates. Watermelons, lemons, dates are very nutritious and have so many health benefits.   

There are some many benefits of watermelon, lemon and dates. Fruits are naturally loaded with vitamin C and helps to repair the body. Watermelon and lemon are loaded with vitamin C. Dates and watermelon are also loaded with potassium. Watermelon is rich in vitamin A which is good for your skin, eyes and hair. The water content in watermelon hydrates the body and helps with digestion. Potassium helps with the control of blood pressure. Potassium is very important in balancing the amount of sodium in the body which protects the heart and lowers blood pressure. Lemons have similar benefits as watermelon. Lemons aid in weight management and help the body fight diseases. The combination of these fruits makes this lemonade very healthy and good for everyone because it an immune booster. It is also very delicious and refreshing. 

Sugar- Free Watermelon Lemonade

Directions   

  • Scrub the rind of the watermelon with sponge/ soft brush and soapy water. Pat dry and set aside.   
  • Pit and chop dates. Then soak in enough hot water to cover the dates and set aside for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour. This will hydrate and soften the fruit.   
  • Juice the lemons, strain to remove pulp and refrigerate.   
  • Cut watermelon and remove the rind. Save some to make watermelon balls.    
  • To make watermelon balls, use a watermelon baller or a metal measuring spoon (1 tablespoon). Dig it into the watermelon and with a rotating motion, roll it out to form balls.   
  • Slice lemons for garnish   
  • Juice the watermelon with a juicer or blend watermelon with the soaked dates and strain it to extract the juice.   
  • Pour the watermelon and date juice into a pitcher, add lemon juice, ice, lemon slices, watermelon balls and stir. You can add water if you want.   
  • This watermelon lemonade is so delicious and refreshing. You do not need to add sugar.      


 Ingredients:    

1 medium Watermelon  

 1 cup freshly squeezed Lemon juice    

Handful of Dates
